Three centuries of heritage and excellence in education

Our History

In Assam, secondary education was launched in the year 1834. Capt. Francis Jenkins, the commissioner of Assam (1834-'61), was the first British official to coordinate structural active measures to provide dynamic instruction for the Assamese youth. Approvals came through the East India Company administration in 1835, creating the foundation of modern educational systems within the province with an enrollment base of 58 students under Headmaster Mr. Singer.

Through foundational structural transformations across the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the institution was raised to a Collegiate tier in 1865, eventually cementing its historic reputation as the Cotton Collegiate School. Today, the modern institution stands bridging three centuries of rich academic inheritance located perfectly within the core heart of Guwahati city.
